A Few Important Concrete Cleaning Tips…

Concrete surfaces tend to accumulate dust very gradually and when it does, you realize how difficult it is to clean the exterior. This is precisely one of the reasons why periodic concrete cleaning helps in maintaining your home, driveway, and concrete patios to give it a yearlong spic and span look. High quality pressure washing is a key element of proper concrete cleaning.

What Is Pressure Cleaning?

Pressure cleaning is a method of using high-pressure water to clean hard to remove the dirt, grime and grease from concrete surfaces. The system consists of a pump with a spray that creates high-pressure water with high velocity that enables cleaning of stains on concrete surfaces.

Points To Remember

* To start with, you will need a proper pressure washer, gloves, approved chemicals, eye protection equipment, water source, power source and accessories.

* Use a power washer with adequate pressure, preferably 3000 psi and with a flow rate of at least 4-5 gallons per minute.

New Product Receives Rave Reviews

Elite Crete Systems has entered REFLECTOR™ Enhancer Flooring Systems in the Most Innovative Products content put on by Hanley Wood for the 2010 World of Concrete exposition.

Exceeding Our Expectations… When we designed and then released the REFLECTOR Enhancer Flooring Systems over a year ago, we anticipated the new product line to be no different than any other new product release. Much to our surprise, the demand for these flooring systems absolutely exploded. In just a few months, architects had specified these new systems for commercial flooring products that originally had either acid stain, waterborne stain or dye stain in mind. Projects such as restaurants, hospitals, automobile dealerships and more were lining up to have REFLECTOR Enhancer Flooring Systems installed in place of other systems. Benefits Beyond Belief…

Although from a distance REFLECTOR Enhancer Flooring Systems might resemble the look of conventional acid stain or other staining products, up close the look is completely different. The colors are more natural and wild at the same time. Typical acid stain blemishes are not present and in their place is mottling and antiquing that simply cannot be achieved with other staining products. However, aesthetics is just the tip of the iceberg. As great looking and unique as these systems are, the real difference is the level of durability compared to other stained floors. In fact, these systems are so tough that they can withstand heavy forklift traffic. Unbelievable Ease of Use. Imagine not having to rinse or neutralize a stain. Think about how great it would be to complete a large project in 1 to 2 days instead of 3 to 4? REFLECTOR Enhancer allows this..

Stamped Concrete or Troweled Concrete Overlay,, what’s the difference??

Our potential clients often ask us the differences between stamped overlays and troweled overlays There are significant differences that every homeowner should be aware of before making a decision about their concrete coating project.

Stamped concrete is concrete that is patterned and/or textured or embossed to resemble brick, slate, flagstone, stone, tile, wood, and various other patterns and textures. Stamped concrete is commonly used for patios, sidewalks, driveways, pool decks, and interior flooring. The ability of stamped concrete to resemble other building materials makes stamped concrete a less expensive alternative to using those other authentic materials such as stone, slate or brick.

There are three procedures used in stamped concrete which separate it from other concrete procedures; the addition of a base color, the addition of an accent color, and stamping a pattern into the concrete. These three procedures provide stamped concrete with a color and shape similar to the natural building material. It also is longer lasting than paved stone, and still resembles the look. One Drawback to Stamped Concrete as compared to Troweled on Systems,  it is more expensive to do just because it requires more material to be placed and can be mo re time consuming as well. So basically more material and labor are required.

A troweled coating is applied by troweling a cement mixture onto the top of existing concrete, usually at a thickness of approximately 1/8”.   The coloring on a troweled coating is put within the concrete while it’s being mixed.  The grout lines are taped  to resemble brick, slate, flagstone, stone, tile, then a tack coat is added over the tape to prevent bleeding of the colors (basically sealing in the grout coat so the top coat will not bleed into the grout lines. The Top coat is then applied in a rough texture to resemble rock or a smother texture to possibly to be more like Tile, or an knockdown finish may be desired, usually two to three coats of sealer is applied to Finish the Project.
